While our beautiful area boasts many talented local artists, at Lakeside Living we're proud to say we're representing an internationally awarded artist, who just happens to live locally.
For the July 2017 NORTHWOODS ART TOUR we are pleased to say we'll be offering the most John McFaul original acrylics since his retrospective at the Cincinnati Nature Center more than a decade ago.
Most of these pieces reflect the Northwoods but, collectors from around the world will not see these offerings until after our showing. Truly making this the most eclectic, comprehensive opportunity to view and purchase John's originals available within that considerable time period.
Each work represents countless hours observing and photographing afield. His passion and quest is to share the essence of each chosen subject matter with his collectors.
While John's reproductions are distributed nationally, there is only ONE original painting!
Growing up in Chippewa Falls, artist John McFaul had frequent access to the beauty of both the Wisconsin and the Canadian Northwoods. He has drawn inspiration from these sources that has ignited into a lifelong passion for the natural world. Research trips have since taken John to numerous wilderness areas throughout the continental US, Alaska, Canada and East Africa. Having lived in Wyoming and Utah, he's especially familiar with the American West. Specific wilderness areas of this region include, Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks, as well as Antelope Island State Park. John has also visited many of the world's greatest museums, a few of these are, the Louvre in Paris, Guggenheim in NY, and the Art Institute in Chicago. These experiences are just some of the many building blocks that have lead John to national recognition for the wide range of his artistic vision.
John is now based in the Northwoods of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. With the shores of Lake Superior, Ottawa National Forest, Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park, and Chequamegon National Forest in excellent proximity, he considers the area a wildlife artist's paradise. These forests are home to black bear, wolves, white-tailed deer, fisher, elk, abundant bald eagles as well as the occasional moose.
Appreciative of all he's achieved, his commitment to constant artistic growth keeps him ever pushing to find new ways to bring his collectors the essence of the natural world.
Please help us welcome John to Lakeside Living on July 28th and 29th for the 2017 Northwoods Art Tour.
